Eglin Golf Course

The Eglin Air Force Base Golf Course is a challenging 18-hole course. It is located at 1527 Fairway Dr, Niceville, FL 32578.  It is not the best golf in Florida, but if you are looking for an inexpensive place to play golf while stationed at Eglin Air Force Base, it will fit the bill. The greens are fast and fun, and there are varying degrees of difficulty. The layout takes time to master but offers a great test of golf. Location: The Eglin Golf Course is located on the base about six miles west of Niceville, Florida. Most people drive through on their way to other parts of the base or from one community to another. Therefore, most visitors will not know where the golf course is unless they need directions from one point to another on base or want to go play while they are passing through town. There is no public access road that leads directly to the fairways of this course so you will have to either walk or take a taxi or ride-share service if you do not have your own vehicle with you. A great place to also visit is Wat Mongkolratanaram Fort Walton Beach

What You’ll See at the Eglin Golf Course

The golf course is beautifully maintained and manicured with mature trees, shrubs, and flowers. Additionally, there are shrubs with decorative purple blooming sword ferns, as well as flowering hardy geraniums and ivy. The fairways are well groomed and the greens are in great condition. The vast majority of the course is shaded by mature oak trees and the fairways are lined with palmettos and other warm-weather-loving, deciduous trees. You will see a few local birds and some wild squirrels or raccoons traversing the course and trees. You may see a few cars parked along the road borders, but for the most part, you will enjoy a completely silent tropical golf experience. A fantastic read

Tee Times and Rates

There is a single trap range located near the first hole that can be used for a small fee. The range is not very big and you will likely not be able to fit many golfers in there at once. Therefore, if you want to use the range, you will likely have to take a walk to get to the trap range, which is not the most convenient of options. It is not recommended that you use the trap range if you are planning on playing a round of 9-hole golf. However, if you are planning on playing just one 9-hole round of golf at the Eglin Golf Course, then you can head to the range and do it. The Eglin Golf Course does not have a practice green, so you can expect to have to use a driving range if you do any of the regular practices. The rates for the Eglin Golf Course are very inexpensive and you can expect to pay $6 to $17 for 9-holes of golf. It is possible to get a discounted rate for playing twice during the day.

Green Fees and Seasonal Promotions

The Eglin Golf Course has one seasonal promotion that happens every year. If you bring your tax return or other financial documents with you, you can get a special rate of only $5 for 9-holes of golf. This rate only applies to tax returns and financial documents. Therefore, if you want to take advantage of this offer, you will need to bring these documents with you while you play. The rest of the winter season, the rates are $6 to $17 for 9-holes of golf. There are no spring promos at the Eglin Golf Course. The summer season is when they have their best deals. The best rate of the summer season is $11 for 9-holes of golf.

Columbia, a New Course?

The Eglin Golf Course was built in 2000, and it was expected to be an improvement over the old course that opened in 1942. The course was renamed the Eglin Golf Course in honor of Colonel Arthur Eglin, who was the base commander from 1949 to 1951. The Eglin Golf Course is not a new course. It is an older course that has been renovated and upgraded a few times. Therefore, it is not brand new and very similar to every other golf course in Florida.

Final Words: Is the Eglin Golf Course Worth the Price?

The Eglin Golf Course is a beautiful golf course, but it is not the best golf in Florida. The layout is challenging, but it is not the hardest course you will ever play. The greens are fast and the fairways are lined with trees. All of these factors make this course one you will want to play again and again. The value of playing the Eglin Golf Course is very low. However, you can do yourself a favor and get to this course early because you will not want to leave when you play it. You can expect to spend 9-holes at the Eglin Golf Course for $6 to $17 with no discounts or reduced rates. The range fee is $5 and there are no other fees or costs associated with playing this course. If you are stationed at Eglin Air Force Base and are looking for a low-cost way to play a few rounds of golf, the Eglin Golf Course is for you.
